For the more adventurous, there are quad bike tours, paintballing and paragliding clubs, not to mention a trip in a light aircraft to fully appreciate the scenery.

The area is full of historical interest - Murcia was a Moorish kingdom and the city museums reflect this. There are good restaurants and shopping in the city to distract you afterwards. There are also Roman ruins right on the beach in Isla Plana.
Other nearby attractions include the castle at Lorca, the “Fortress of the Sun” as it is known, an easy drive inland. During holiday season, a small train winds it´s way up to the castle after making a short tour of the city, and children love the journey to the top of the hill. Once at the castle, you can take a guided tour or choose to wander around freely.
Cartegena just north east of Mazarron is an historical walled Naval city, home port of the Armada and still a Naval base. Full of great architecture from the grand houses of the mining barons who ran the regions mines, it is well worth wandering around savouring its naval heritage and gastronomic delights. Try the tapas while watching the ships on a hot sunny day, Spanish tourism at its best!
